My Juggling Act

First off - I went to the doctor today and I am down to 425 lbs, a total of 88 pounds gone.  I talked to her about my complications and she checked my wound and said its healing beautifully.  She wrote me a couple of scripts and I went on my merry way.  I go back in two weeks for her to re-evaulate my medication to see what needs to be adjusted.  On my way out, I stopped by to talk to my boss and then to see the girls I work with and it was nice to see them but it was exhausting too.  Today was my first day alone since the surgery and my first day driving.  I didn't eat before I left because I wasn't hungry.  I also didn't take any medication before I left, because I am still on strong pain medication and I wouldn't have been able to drive.  I went by and dropped off my scripts at the pharmacy and then I went and got something for lunch and went home and took my medication and rested for a while.

I have found a new struggle in this whole bariatric/weight loss surgery process.  I am having a hard time getting in my protein (via food or shake), the multiple doses of vitamins, managing my ever-changing daily meds, fighting the nausea and eating three times a day, and drinking the required quantity of water and staying hydrated.  I know I don't have much choice in the matter and muddling through this is something I just have to do to survive, but its frustrating still.  I am just gonna have to make a schedule, be strict on myself, and stick to it.  NOT taking the vitamins that my body needs to maintain my health and not doing what I need to survive is simply not an option.

  1. I am so proud of you. Not only for going on this journey, but allowing all of us to follow along with you! It is an AMAZING gift that you are sharing!

I'll give you one of my "sickie" tricks, as I like to call them.

Find the most annoying ring tone you can find...if you want, I can send you a few to choose from. Set an alarm with your cell phone, if you have one...and then, you won't be able to forget the schedule of meds and drinks and all that stuff.

There are also some pill containers that have alarms on them as well. You can them in the pharmacy section of pretty much any major store. There are also some at The Epilepsy Foundation.

I had a lot of struggles with remembering to take my meds, and if you forget even the smallest of meds, you may pay a huge price later for it. So, I did all of that until I got to the point of it being just a habit.
